Mission and underlying philosophy
If Christ were wandering around the Twin Cities today as he did in Palestine 2000 years ago he would, like then be hanging out with the lost, lonely and homeless. Our purpose as Christians is to bring glory to God and model Jesus Christ. Our goal at Breakthrough Ministries, Inc. is to meet people where they are at and simply love them. Part of that love is being able to provide a safe, clean place for those who are homeless to live. Further, we set out to create a loving; nurturing Christian environment in an effort to assist those in need become self-supporting, self-reliant contributing members of the community.
Breakthrough places an emphasis on the individual that God leads to our organization and provides practical, holistic services while helping them discover the destiny God has for their life.
Breakthrough Ministries seeks to serve the Twin Cities homeless. That number is staggering. Research indicates that there are well over 10,000 homeless people in Minnesota. Of that, over 2,000 are sleeping in places that are considered uninhabitable. Places like under bridges, abandoned buildings, cars, etc.
The problems are not always the same. Loss of work, family issues, mental illness, loneliness, hopelessness, lack of self worth, rape, incest, neglect, abuse, hurt, just to name a few. What I have found is that homelessness is so often the result of these issues.
This is the mission field. And it is right here in the Twin Cities and Breakthrough Ministries, Inc. is on a mission!
The mission is: Leading the Lost Home.
